BURD-SEELEY, CAROLYN

Carolyn, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Buckley on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018.  Carolyn was born on Oct. 17, 1946 to Helen Katherine (nee Cram) and Donald 'Jack' Burd in Traverse City.  She was married to Everett O. Seeley in 1965. Together they had three children.

Carolyn was a talented seamstress.  She worked for many years as a manager at a local dry cleaning service and at a popular fabric store.  One of her famous accomplishments was sewing the curtains for the Traverse City Opera House.  Carolyn was a strong-willed and nurturing person with the ability to take any handful of ingredients and make a wonderful feast.  Whether you were family or a friend, you could never leave her home without sharing a meal and a story or two.

Carolyn is survived by her mother, Helen Katherine Charavay; sons, Robert E. Seeley, of North Carolina, and Randy J. Seeley, of Buckley; sisters, Suzanne Robertson, of Saginaw, and Bonnie Lake, of North Carolina; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; life partner, Everett O. Seeley; and her beloved pets, Cricket and Blossom.  She was preceded in death by her father, Donald 'Jack' Burd; daughter, Janine M. Seeley; and grandson, Thomas E. Seeley.

As per her wishes, no funeral was held.  An informal gathering took place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at the Manistee River High Banks Rollaway in Wexford County.  Bright colors were worn in celebration of her life and legacy.
