Christopher William Ansorge, 61, of Traverse City, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at his home on Arbutus Lake. He was born July 10, 1947, in Traverse City, the son of Raymond Ansorge and Audrey (Gray) Ansorge.
Chris graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1965 and served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He loved spending time with his family and friends at his home on Arbutus Lake.
Chris is survived by his wife, Jean Cutler Ansorge; two daughters, Elizabeth (Ansorge) Thirlby of Fife Lake and Kristie (Ansorge) Liapioshkin of Traverse City; two stepsons, Eric and Randy Sniff of Traverse City; and several grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Gary Ansorge of Cadillac, Richard Ansorge and Tony Ansorge of Traverse City and Bill Ansorge of Fife Lake; and five sisters, Cindy Retherford and Julie Schreiner of Traverse City, Janet DeClarke of Holt, Mary Wheeler of Big Sky, Mont., and Laurie Ansorge of Hudson, Fla. Chris is also survived by an uncle, Kent Gray of Traverse City; and two aunts, Betty Swanson of Honor and Lorraine Claus of Freeland.
A benefit dinner for family and friends to celebrate his life is planned for Saturday, March 14, 2009, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the American Military League, 2423 Sybrandt St., Traverse City. A memorial service will take place immediately following at the AML at 5 p.m.
