Lois Jean McDaniel, 54, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Lois was born Sept. 26, 1946 in Bay City, the daughter of Vern F. and Lena E. (Stirrett) Wing and had been a Traverse City resident since moving here with her family when she was 1 years of age. Lois was a graduate of Traverse City Central and married Steven L. McDaniel on Aug. 24, 1968, in Traverse City. Lois had been employed as a baker and bakers assistant by Underwood Bakery and then by Tom's Food Markets until she retired due to her health. She attended Central United Methodist Church and enjoyed boating, camping, flowers, fairs, the outdoors and Cedar Point.
Lois is survived by her husband, Steve; her son, Matthew S. McDaniel of Traverse City; her parents, Vern and Lena Wing of Traverse City; a sister, Donna M. (Gary) Flees of Traverse City; two brothers, Gary (Helen) Wing of Buffalo, Mo., Roger (Cheryl) Wing of Arcadia, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; her mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Donna McDaniel of Traverse City; and a sister-in-law, Lynn (Martin) Palmer of Williamsburg. Lois was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sharon Kay.
The family received friends at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Sunday, August 26th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 27th, at the funeral home with The Rev. Marvin Rosa officiating. Burial was in Acme Township Cemetery.
