GREILICK, ROBERT

           Pfc. Robert Greilick, 18, was killed Tuesday, June 1, 1965, at a U.S. Army barracks outside Seoul when a South Korean guard went berserk and fired an M14 rifle throughout the room.   Two others were wounded.   The Korean guard was taken into custody by other Korean guards, but escaped, climbed a 35-foot radio tower and attempted to hang himself with his belt.   The belt broke, however, and the Korean plunged to his death.

The victim is the son of Mrs. Dorothy Olson of Traverse City and Robert Greilick of Suttons Bay.   He was born in Traverse City on February 22, 1947.   Pfc. Greilick attended Traverse City Senior High School and entered military service on April 17, 1964.

Surviving are the father Robert E. Greilick of Suttons Bay, the mother, Mrs. Louis Olson of Traverse City, two sisters, Nancy and Kathy Greilick of Traverse City:   grandparent, Mrs. E.W. Greilick, Mrs. Katherine Chaney, and Verl Zick, all of Traverse City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services for Pfc. Robert Greilick II, 18;, of Traverse City were held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 8th, at Martinson funeral home of Traverse City.   Pastor Lloyd Hubert officiating.   Burial, with full military honors was in the family lot in Oakwood Cemetery.
