Funeral services for Spec 4 Douglas Meredith McNabb, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McNabb of Traverse City, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City. Â Rev. Walter C. Pieper officiated, with graveside services at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens under auspices of the U.S. Army.
Spec. 4 McNabb, a 1965 graduate of Traverse City High School, was killed in action near Chulai, Vietnam, on February 23, 1968. Â He had entered the U.S. Army in September 1966 and had served in Vietnam since last December. Â
He was born September 17, 1947, at Dearborn, moved to Traverse City with his family in 1948, and attended Trinity Lutheran and Oak Park grade schools prior to entering Senior High School. Â On January 20, 1967 he was married to Karen Neal of Marlton, N.J., who survives. Â Also surviving are a son, Cristofer Heath, his parents, three brothers, Robert of Camp LeJeune, N.C. and Ralph and John at home, two sisters Catherine and Colleen, at home; his maternal grandfather, Meredith Raftery of Traverse City; and other relatives.
