Judy Mae (Lautner) Stowe, 60, of Traverse City, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at home with her family by her side.
Judy was born Sept. 13, 1947 in Traverse City, the daughter of Wilbert and Beulah (Skiver) Lautner.  Judy graduated from Traverse City Central High in 1965.  On May 3, 1969 she married Duane Stowe at Bethlehem Lutheran, beginning a life-long connection to the church and congregation.  Judy lived her entire life in Long Lake Township and enjoyed having so many family members and friends close by.  After the kids started school, Judy worked at Consumers Energy for a number of years where she made many lasting friendships.
In 1999, Judy convinced Duane to purchase their first camper.  This quickly became a passion and some of the most cherished memories would be spending the entire day cooking meals over the campfire while playing cards with Ila and Larry Stowe and Arlene and Jack Hahnenberg.  The shine in her eye was spending time with her grandkids.  She never went more than a day or two without seeing them.
She was eager to tackle any project such as sewing Halloween costumes, making dress up clothes, decorating cakes and cookies for every occasion.  She also found enjoyment in quilting and knitting baby blankets, sweaters, hats and scarves.  Judy was always involved in planning the next family event.  Everything from baby/wedding showers to family reunions and spur of the moment Sunday dinners.  She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, always giving so much of herself to her family.
Judy is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Duane Stowe; her daughter, Melissa (Shawn) O'Brien; her son Brad (Kim) Stowe; grandchildren Bailey and Collin O'Brien; her mother Beulah Lautner; her sister Bev McAdams; two brothers, Terry (Jackie) Lautner and Ron (Marcia) Lautner all from the Traverse City area; as well as many nieces, nephews, cherished in-laws and close friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Wilbert.
Visitation for family and friends was held Wednesday, Dec. 26 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.  Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  The Reverend Marvin Rosa officiated.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to Munson Hospice or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
